Alice had spent the whole day decorating for Bella's birthday party. I don't see why she liked to torture Bella like this, but it made Alice happy. That's all I wanted.
Rosalie wasn't to happy about this, but she went along with it. Emmett however, was estatic. Esme and Carlisle were happy about seeing Bella again.
Alice was ajusting some candles on the cofee table when she stiffened. I got worried, but then she smiled.
"They're here!" she said.
I relaxed as she came to my side. She grabbed my hand and brought it to her lips. I looked down at her and smiled. I heard Edward and Bella's footsteps come up the walk. I held my breath as they walked in the door. There was a loud chorus of "Happy Birthday!" She was blushing more than usual. She looked at each one of us. Emmett let out a slight chuckle that no human could hear. Alice left my side far to soon. She gave Bella a quick hug and pulled away.
"Happy birthday Bella!" she sang.
"Alice you shouldn't have." Bella said. I could tell she was embarassed by the candles, presents, and espesially the cake with the stack of glass plates.
"But I did," she exclaimed."Come on! It's time to open presents!"
"Got to go! Don't do anything funny while I'm gone!" Emmett cried. And with that he went out the door. I knew where he was heading. I smiled even bigger.
Alice took Bella's hand and dragged her to the table that held the presents. I could feel her humiliation become stronger. Alice handed her a present.
"It's from Rosalie, Emmett and Jasper." she said.
Bella held the present and looked at it questionably. She shook it and tore off the wrapping paper. When she opened the box I couldn't help but let out a laugh. Even Rosalie smiled.
"It's a sterio for your truck," I explained. "Emmett's installing in now so you can return it."
She smiled. "Thanks Jasper. Rosalie." She looked to the door. "Thanks Emmett!" she yelled.
I could hear Emmett's booming laughter and everyone joined in.
"Here," Alice said. "It's from me and Edward."
Bella took the small silver package in her hands and looked at Edward. Right then Emmett ran in.
"Just in time!" he said. He came up behind me. I hadn't noticed, but everyone had drifted closer. They were all anxcious to see.
"I didn't spend a thing." he said.
"I'm sure." Bella mumbled as she stuck her finger under the tape. She jerked it up. It all happened so fast.
I was running torward Bella when Edward pushed her back. He threw me back. I crushed into the piano breaking it into pieces. But that didn't stop me. I was back on my feet in less than a second, striving torwards Bella. Before I could get far, Emmett had me in his steal grip.
I was questioning myself in my head. Why was I doing this? How could I? After all these years of trying, I was letting everyone down. But My body overruled my mind. Bella's blood was now pulsing out of her arm. I needed it.
"Rosalie, Emmett, get Jasper out of here." Carlisle said calmly.
Rosalie was infront of me, blocking my vision. They carried me out a few miles before I calmed down. Emmett let go.
"Dude?" Emmett said raising his shoulders.
I ran in the opposite direction of the house. Stopping when I knew they couldn't hear me any longer.
"Danm it!" I screamed punching a tree, breaking it in two in the process. I slammed my head to a tree and crumbled to the ground. I turned so my back was facing the tree. After about ten seconds, I started feeling someones emotions. There was sorrow, regret, fear, and hatered. I could hear Edward's footsteps become louder. Then he stopped a few feet behind me.
"Thanks Jasper." I heard him say, it was barley above a whisper. With that he left me. I let out a scream. I heard smaller footsteps, then a small hand on my shoulder. I looked up to see Alice's disapointed face.
"I'm sorry Alice," I said. "I don't know-"
"Shh..." she said putting her finger to my lips. She sat down beside me and wrapped her arms around me.
"I know you didn't mean to." she whispered.
"Maybe I should just give up," I said. "I've disapointed everyone."
She took my face in both of her hands.
"You could never disapoint me." she said so softly no human could hear. She pulled my face closer to hers. Her lips crushed to mine. I felt pure joy, hope, and most of all. Love. I wrapped my arms around my Alice, knowing my family would forgive me.
